2023 Mansfield Awards - Wrap Up!

Congratulations to all our winners and finalists of the 2023 Mansfield Awards!

Last night, guests from all across the Australian Insurance Industry filed into the Establishment Ballroom in Sydney. As they met or reunited with old and new friends, anticipation filled the air as everyone wondered who would come away with a trophy.

The night began with a with a stirring commencement video, then M.C Nathan Strempel opened the event officially. Nathan expressed his love and admiration for the insurance industry, and for the amazing people in it. He also gave a nod to LMI’s Helen Manning, who wore a dress which was of the same material as the photo wall, made by her own two hands!

Keynote speaker, Michelle Forrest of QBE Insurance then took the stage to speak passionately about the importance of the insurance industry, and how Cyclone Debbie had a hand in her realising the true purpose of insurance, which is to help people through their toughest times.

It was then time for the awards!

Presenter Andy Martindale from event sponsor Steadfast Claims Solutions presented the first two categories, Personal Lines and SME Property & Casualty. Budget Direct walked away with Personal Lines and Vero took the SME Property & Casualty again.

Next presenter Tony Wessling of event sponsor icare presented the next two silver categories, Corporate Property and Casualty & Specialty. Zurich Insurance Australia Limited took out the Corporate Property category, and NTI Limited won the Specialty category.

A breather was taken to watch a wonderful video about the Amal Mulia Orphanage in Indonesia. The orphanage houses orphans who have physical or mental disabilities, and it receives all profits made from The Mansfield Awards.

Then it was time for the Purple Mansfield. LMI Group‘s CEO, Steve Manning took the stage to explain what the award’s purpose was, and why it reflects the true meaning of the insurance industry. Nick Albrecht of Allianz Australia Insurance Limited took out the Purple Mansfield Award with his incredible heartfelt manner, sitting and talking with a client for an extended time who was in a difficult situation.

Prof. Allan Manning, founder of The Mansfield Awards, then got up on stage to explain the process behind the awards, and how winners are calculated through rigorous lists of statistics. He also presented the Gold Mansfield, the final award of the night, and emphasised how, although there was one winner for the Gold this year, there were several other insurance companies hot on their tail. Vero were awarded the Gold trophy for the fourth year in a row! Incredible work, Vero!

With that, the formalities were over, allowing the guests to celebrate, commiserate and congratulate with their teams. Below are the winners and finalists from the night!
